Welcome to AGAPE!

AGAPE stands for Acting on God’s Authority as Parent Educators. We are a group of parents who want to provide our children with a Christ-centered education. Each month we have a meeting for the whole family to encourage one another, learn from each other, fellowship, and share a meal. These meetings are fun and uplifting.  Each month’s meeting is centered around a family friendly theme such as a Christmas dinner and talent show, family game night, science fair, and poetry night.

We have been where you are, and we will try to help you through any difficulties, or just give you a hug and let you know that you are not alone.  Many of our parents are veteran homeschoolers and some were even homeschooled themselves. We have members who have graduated all their children, but remain members to help encourage and guide other homeschool parents.

In addition to our monthly meetings, we have a Yahoo group where you can keep up with the latest happenings. You can receive emails from our members and ask questions. This a great resource! Many members will post ideas, discounts, book Festival de couleurs au marais...!!!recommendations, and their materials for sale, etc.

We also host a field trip once a month. Our field trip coordinator plans a field trip and will post the information and availability. She will also post ideas throughout the month on the newsloop that families can do on their own.

Other enrichment opportunities we provide include a partnership with Buncombe County Parks and Rec for a PE program in the fall and the spring. It is a low-cost program and has been a lot of fun.  New for the 2012-2013 school year is a Literature Fair!  Please see our Calendar of Events page for more information on each of these events.

We are continually trying to think of ways we can best serve the homeschool community in our area, and each year will find our group expanding and reaching out to more and more homeschoolers just like you!

    • Hi, Michelle! Are you local to Buncombe County? Just want to make sure since most of the things we offer are best taken advantage of locally! If so, it’s s very simple yo join. At the top of our webpage is a join button with directions for joining on it as well as an application. The cost is either 10 or 15 dollars a year. Forgive me. I can’t remember exactly right now. Also, we are having our regular monthly meeting tonight at Westwood Baptist church at 7pm. You are welcome to come and join there in person!

  1. I would love to find out more about your group and the times you meet. Just started homeschooling last week and would love someone to get in touch with me via email. Thanks and we are in Buncombe county.

  2. I have a 4 year old who will be 5 in January. We are planning on homeschooling her and her younger brother. Currently we’re working through a few books and she is learning to read. I would love to become a member and meet other families in the area. Could someone contact me on how to become a member? I am a Buncombe Co. resident. Thanks for the help!

    • Hi, Aubry! Sorry, I just got your message. How exciting that you are going to be homeschooling! We would love to help you get started and hooked up with other homeschoolers in the area. I’ll send you an email. 🙂

  3. Hello! My name is Jerri Neal and I am the Regional Liaison for NCHE Region 1. NCHE recently changed some of the regions and now AGAPE falls in Region 1. I am trying to update the groups on the website by locating leaders to get up-to-date information. Could someone please email me at region1@nche.com with a contact person’s name and info? I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to do this!
    Thanks so much!

  4. I would like to join your co-op group, is it still running, because the website hasn’t been updated since 2012 and I can’t find any phone number to call.

    Thank you
